Students will explore and develop a deep understanding of the
characteristics and scope of technology and the influence on history,
along with the relationships and connections between technology and
other fields of study. Students will develop an understanding of the
attributes of design and develop skills by using the design process to
solve technological problems. Students will develop a positive attitude
about safety and skills through research, problem solving, testing, and
working collaboratively. This course satisfies the technology education
graduation requirement.
This two-semester course carries 1.0
credit, follows a blended learning format that spans six weeks in the
summer or 12 weeks during the school year, and requires three
face-to-face lab meetings during the course. Students are eligible to
take this course after completing Grade 8. Tuition is $600 for the 1.0
credit course. Students may take only FOT-A or FOT-B ($300 per 0.5
credit), but must initially sign-up for the full course; intent to take
only one semester will be an option during the registration process.
